Local Group Talks/Meetings

Seed Exchange
We run a renowned annual Seed Exchange allowing members to obtain unusual and rare seed free of charge,

apart from a contribution towards postage costs.

Stick-in Plant/Seed Labels
We have white and coloured plastic "stick-in" labels available for sale. These are ideal for marking plants in the garden, and can be used in seed trays and pots of seedlings.

Our twice yearly Journal is one of the world's best publications for rock gardeners. IRG is our free monthly e-magazine - an international celebration of plants in habitat and in gardens. Showcasing beautiful plants in nature and garden settings, with comments on cultivation.

A regular fix of practical advice on growing bulbs from seed to maturity. Ian covers bulbs and companion plants grown by him and Maggi in the greenhouse and outside in their Aberdeenshire garden.

Aberdeen show 2026 cancelled

With great sadness we report the passing of Lillian Chapman, joint show secretary for Aberdeen. In respect, the show is cancelled for 2026. Our sincere condolences to Ian Chapman.

Journal "The Rock Garden" - Indexes

Members can now log in and download our latest Journals, as well as our Dryas newsletter and Yearbooks. All publications are available to logged-in members.
Cumulative searchable Indexes are now available for Plant Names, Author Names, Article Titles, and Geographical Areas covering every issue from 1933 to date.

Shows and Events

We run many Flower Shows each year both competitive and non-competitive. Most take place from March through to the end of May. They are the best place to see many wonderful rock garden and alpine plants.

Web Forum

The SRGC Forum provides a place to meet online and bring together the international membership of the Club. Learn more about the plants that interest you, share photos, discuss plants, gardens, field trips, plants and even recipies!

Awards

The SRGC offers Exploration Awards to finance expeditions to study plants in their natural habitats. It also offers Training Awards from the Diana Aitchison Fund to aid aspiring young horticulturalists.

79th Seed Exchange 2025/26
We can both receive and send seed to ANY country, the EU, Australia and the Rest of the World - despite phytosanitary restrictions. We need more seed donors, AND donors receive a more seed packets allocation, so start collecting seed for next year.
